Margaret Wakefield
Equine artist Margaret Mason Wakefield comes from an eccentric and artistic family. Her mother was quite the artist herself yet never pursued it while her father, an enrolled member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, painted the many songbirds he encountered on his travels.
Born in the reservation in NC, Margaret grew up in Hampton county and is a lifelong horseman. She’s an award winning artist with work in the National Parks System, corporate collections and she been invited to Red Earth, in Oklahoma City, on numerous occasions. She’s also formed The Aiken Horse & Hound Artists Group to help promote Aikens equine and canine artist. You can find her works throughout the southeast.
