Mary Alice Lockhart
Mary Alice Lockhart is a recognized artist in the South Carolina, Georgia art scene. Her work has been in many solo and group exhibitions throughout this area, and is included in many public and private collections in the Southeast.
Mary Alice has been an active participant in the Aiken arts community for many years. She is a member of the Aiken Artist Guild, the Aiken Center for the Arts, The Gertrude Herbert, and the Morris Museum of Art. She has also been a docent for the Morris Museum of Art.
Mary Alice loves to paint the farms and landscapes in and around Aiken County where she grew up. She also works with figures and still life. She works in Acrylics and Oils, and occasionally pastels and watercolor. Her paintings are colorful and eyecatching with animals featured in many of them.
Now a resident of Aiken, she lived many years in Atlanta, Georgia. She grew up in Aiken and returned in 1978. She is a registered nurse and worked in the Oncology field for many years at University Hospital and the Medical College of Georgia. Since her retirement, she has studied art at USCA under Albin Beyer, and at Augusta College under Philip Morsberger, and has attended many workshops in collage, painting, mixed media, etc.
Her paintings are currently at the Ramco Gallery in Irmo, SC, the Aiken Center of the Arts, and Connie’s Framing.
