Linda Sweeten

A native of North Augusta, South Carolina, Garland Gooden Jr. holds a degree in English from Clemson University. He has worked for over forty years in advertising and marketing communications for agencies in Florida and North Carolina as art director, copywriter, and graphic designer as well as radio and television scriptwriter/director. From 1993 until 2015 he owned a graphic design studio in Greensboro, NC, serving clients across the US. A self-taught pen-and-ink artist, he learned etching from Noyes Long at Appalachian State University, and began working in watercolor in 1999 under Greensboro artist Nancy Bulluck. An avid runner, hiker and backpacker, Garland returned to North Augusta in 2015. His son and hiking partner, Graham,an artist in his own right, is studying advertising and graphic design at Western Carolina University.
