Durana Farrar

My name is Durana Farrar and I’m a longtime resident of Aiken County, having come to the area with my family when I was five years old.

After graduating from Aiken High School, I attended USC and earned a B.A. degree and M.Ed. degree in education. I retired from teaching after serving 37 years in the Aiken County Public Schools.

I enjoyed drawing and sketching from an early age, but became interested in oil painting about the time I graduated from college. My earliest paintings date back to 1970.  Currently, I enjoy painting with oils as a hobby and have no plans to be a professional artist. I’m self-taught, and prefer it that way. I want my own style because, whether good or bad, it’s mine. I paint what I like and what I feel and that is what matters to me.
