SUMMARY:Library Painting Group
DESCRIPTION:We work together to enjoy our passion for art and to support each other’s endeavors. It is a fun and welcoming group\, but it is a studio setting not a formal class. .You can paint in the medium of your choice: people use oils\, acrylics\, watercolor\, and even things like alcohol ink or gouache. The skill level is from beginner to quite experienced You need to bring all the materials needed for whichever art medium you plan to use. Also having paper towels\, a pillow case and towel to cover the chair\, and references to paint from are strongly encouraged. Space is limited and at times there is a waiting list\, so if you’re interested\, contact Janet Robinson at the Library\, 803-642-2020: she will take your information and pass it on to the group leaders\, who will let you know when there is an opening.

SUMMARY:Abstract Group
DESCRIPTION:Catherine Musham started the Abstract Group a few years ago for anyone interested in abstract art. Our “mission” is to promote and support abstract artists in the Aiken area. Abstract artists of any experience level are welcome. We encourage members to show their work at local shows such as those at Better World Studios\, the Aiken Center for the Arts and the Arts and Heritage Center of North Augusta. We also get together socially at local restaurants. The Abstract Group offers a weekly studio painting session as a group of artists painting together with no teacher and no instruction. Please be aware that a cat lives in the studio space if you have allergies. Catherine teaches abstract art at the Aiken Center for the Arts\, see their class catalogue for more information.
