The very entertaining Randy Lambeth from Augusta will be our speaker on February 12th. He paints landscapes, portraits and figures. Randy works in watercolor and oils. His work can be seen on display in businesses all over Augusta.
Starting off his professional life in a lab doing research at MCG, Mr Lambeth proceeded down a bit of a windy path until a good friend gave him the book, You Too Can Paint Watercolor Landscapes and they proceeded to go to Freeman Schoolcraft’s farm in Evans and paint. Painting every day, it didn’t take very long before he won Best of Show at the Gertrude Herbert Art Institute in 1974. He says this win went to his head and he had to learn to follow the art instead of the money. Since then Randy has found that he doesn’t have to work to please others to make a good living from his art. Even with all his success, he still considers himself a student of art. Just reading an article about him has me inspired to make sure I work on my art daily. I am so very excited to hear what he as to say! Be sure to join us at the Aiken Center for the Arts on February 12th at 6:30 for social time and 7:00 for the meeting. Please wear your name tags because I am terrible at remembering names!
